Montgomery College’s Fire Science and Emergency Services Programs offer associates degrees and certificates from which students may choose to fulfill their career goals.
Fire and Emergency Services Management, Fire and Arson Investigation, and Emergency Medical Technician – Basic programs are currently offered. Fire Protection Technology, Fire Prevention Technology, Emergency Preparedness Management and Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic are under development.
The A.A.S. is awarded upon completion of all requirements in the Fire and Emergency Services Management, Fire Protection Technology, and Fire Prevention Technology tracks. A Certificate is awarded upon completion of all requirements in the Fire and Emergency Services Management, Fire Protection Technology, Fire Prevention Technology, and Fire and Arson Investigation tracks. A Letter of Recognition is awarded upon completion of all requirements in the Emergency Medical Technician – Basic track.
The Fire and Emergency Services Management program at Montgomery College prepares students to efficiently transfer and complete their upper-level coursework at University of Maryland University College and is an approved program developed in conjunction with the National Fire Academy of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Fire Protection Technology and Fire Prevention Technology were also developed from the model curricula of the National Fire Academy.
The Montgomery College Fire Science Program has educated the nation’s leaders in the fire service for more than 40 years. With the new degree and certificate programs, this tradition continues into the 21st Century.
